Hornets News · Varsity Football defeated by Chippewa Hills 31-14


The Varsity Hornets lost a hard fought game Friday night by the score of 31-14.  The Hornets were able to jump out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on a pair of touchdowns by Teague Stander.  Chippewa Hills was able to close the gap in the second quarter, but missed a PAT to send the Hornets in at halftime 14-13.

In the third quarter, the Hornet defense held strong, but the Warriors were able to pin the Hornets inside their own 5 yard line with a punt.  The next series was three and out setting Chippewa Hills up with a great field position and eventually allowing them to take the lead.  They added another touchdown later and a field goal to seal the game 31-14.

The Hornet offense was led by Teague Stander who had 96 yard rushing and 2 TD’s on 15 carries.  He also added 70 yards receiving.  Andrew Johnson added 125 yards passing on 5 completions.

Defensively the Hornets were led by Andrew Johnson with 9 tackles.  Gunner Hill had a fumble recovery and Zach House had an interception.

Central Montcalm plays Reed City on Friday in our Gold Game.  Game starts at 7 pm
